Our Story — Celebrate Your Boners
Boner’s Botanicals started the way most great things do… by accident.
In learning this craft — whether you call it an art, a trade, or just pure trial and error — we’ve made a lot of mistakes. Some were small, some were messy, and some were downright hilarious. The mistakes kept coming, but so did the lessons. And through it all, one thing became clear: the process of creating something by hand is full of blunders, growth, and little triumphs along the way.
That’s how Boner’s Botanicals got its name.
The boner we speak of isn’t what you think of today, though we've found it makes for some funny play on words — back in the 1950s, it simply meant a blunder or foolish mistake. Comics, sports, and everyday life were full of boners: the infamous Batman #66 “Joker’s Comedy of Errors Boner Issue” or baseball’s Merkle’s Boner in 1908.
Life is full of boners — big, small, historic, or hilarious. We all make mistakes. We all learn. And as John F. Kennedy eloquently said:
“A wise man once said: An error doesn’t become a mistake until you refuse to correct it.”
So we decided to embrace it. Every batch of soap, candle, or bath bomb we make carries that spirit: imperfectly perfect, thoughtfully crafted, and made to nourish your skin. We’ll probably keep making mistakes as we grow — but that’s the point. Each one teaches us, and each one helps us make something better for you.
